Sustainable Kamloops – What Does It Mean to Me

Hot Night.jpg

Without individual action, sustainability is nothing more than an idea.

Kamloops is a great community, and we want to make sure it remains that way for future generations.  This means having clean air to breathe and quality water to drink. It means ensuring good employment opportunities and a strong social and community network of schools, health care, recreation, cultural and other institutions. We also want to do our part to ensure the sustainability of the world around us

There are lots of ways you can be involved.

  • Understand the issues for Kamloops in all areas of sustainability – environmental, social and economic.  Information is available on this website as well as the City’s main website. You can also get more information at the Sustainable Kamloops public meetings that will be held periodically.

  • Welcome to Kamloops sign.jpgMake your views known. What would you like to see in the future? What are the challenges and opportunities in getting there?  Please come and talk to the Sustainable Kamloops Project Team at any of the public meetings, and/or fill out our survey.

  • Learn what actions you can take to ensure a sustainable Kamloops.  Simple things, like turning off lights and electronic devices, ensuring efficient water use, and driving less all contribute to a more sustainable future.  So too does being innovative and entrepreneurial at work, watching the world around you and determining how you and your organization can contribute to strong and resilient economic conditions.  Helping someone learn to read, coaching a recreation group or working at a food bank are all examples of efforts that help to make our community more sustainable.
